about me:

I'm an Assistant Professor of Gender & Women's Studies at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. I also have faculty affiliations in Latina/Latino Studies and the Unit of Criticism and Interpretive Theory.

My research areas are decolonial theory, Latina and Latinx feminisms, feminist theory, critical theory, and critical philosophy of race.

I'm currently working on a book project, Orienting Historias: Unraveling the Coloniality of Gender through Las Tres Madres, that argues that when approached through a decolonial feminist analytic, Las Tres Madres (La Llorona, La Malinche, La Virgen de Guadalupe) give us new purchase to begin untwisting the knots of our colonized memories in order to unravel the coloniality of power, race, and gender.
